If you sell physical products, you will know that an order management system (OMS) is indispensable. Businesses such as Coolblue use their OMS as a catalyst for growth. For example, by managing stocks well and fulfilling orders and returns quickly and intelligently.

The best customer experience E-commerce has become more complex as most (r)etailers are using more digital channels to offer their products. Also, most stock is often located in physical shops, and smart order fulfilment is an absolute must for ensuring the best customer experience.

Integrate with your tech stack If you want to realize even more efficiency from your OMS, you should integrate it with as many other applications as possible that you already use within your tech stack. Including - don't forget - the links to third-party systems. By integrating systems, you minimize the risk of error and make use of automation within e-commerce processes.  To make it easier for you, we have listed these applications and systems below.

Applications

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): optimize overall business productivity by including order fulfilment data
  • Product Information Management (PIM): enrich static product information before the order process with relevant data from the PIM system. Think about images and (commercial) product names and descriptions
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): use customer data from the CRM to communicate with customers in a personal and targeted way during the order fulfilment process
  • Payment Service Provider (PSP): be certain that the financial processing of orders and returns takes place automatically, efficiently, clearly and quickly
  • Business Intelligence (BI): add the KPIs of the OMS to your existing BI reports

Third party systems

  • marketplaces such as Bol.com and Amazon: receive orders from these channels like they came from your own website. Enable status updates following the order process back to the specific marketplace
  • logistics providers or brokers: make the best logistical decision for each order. There is a fair chance that it is smarter to ship orders to country A using logistics provider 2 and ship to country X with logistics provider 4
